Blue Ridge Center for Therapeutic Horsemanship

Providing life-enhancing, equine-oriented activities for individuals with disabling conditions.

Volunteers are the heart of therapeutic riding programs!   We could not provide services without you!

Lesson volunteers can be either horse leaders or sidewalkers.  Leaders must have horse experience, but it is not required of side walkers who are responsible for the student. Lesson volunteers must be at least 14 years of age.

Volunteers are also needed to assist with equine and barn care, as well as with fundraising, public relations and other administrative activities.

All lesson volunteers must attend a two-part volunteer training, the first of which is introductory and informational, and the second, one week or so later, is practical and hands-on.  Horse leaders will be trained in techniques proven to be the most effective in the therapeutic riding setting.

Our Two-Part Volunteer Training for Spring 2014 Session will be scheduled in late April.
